About us - a short recent history of KLT&SC
In 1962 Kenilworth Lawn Tennis Club moved from a congested and valuable site in the centre of Kenilworth to a large and open area, surrounded by fields, to the north of the town. The move gave us a large car park and freed up some of our capital to build a spacious new clubhouse, which is the envy of many local clubs. At that time we had a total of 13 tennis courts.
In 1968 the first couple of squash courts were built - a further two were added in 1972, and a fifth in 1992.
Over a period of time there was a move towards "all-weather" tennis courts, and then two synthetic grass courts were installed in 1987. These two courts were re-surfaced in 1996 - by which time we also had seven tarmacadam courts, of which four were floodlit. Two more tarmacadam courts were converted to artificial grass in Spring '98. The standard of floodlighting was improved in early 2000, and lighting was extended to cover two artificial grass courts and the Junior Court, in addition to the previous four tarmac courts.

In 2003 a further two tarmac courts were recovered with artificial grass - making a total of 6 artificial grass courts (4 floodlit) and three tarmac courts (all floodlit).
A new facility - a Kids Zone - was introduced in 2003.
The Club puts great emphasis on encouraging all members of the family to take part in the various activities.
In both the tennis and squash sections, there are very active Junior membership groups. On a number of occasions, the Juniors have progressed so well with their playing standards that they have participated in and won the Open Club Tournaments - to the delight of their fellow Juniors at the annual prize-giving event!
