Club Competitions 2011 - Summary

The club has nine trophies competed for each season and the following brief reports summarise the results. The trophies are presented at the end of season buffet.

Castle Cup – Advanced Association Croquet played level. After a close first game when Henry Fellows only overtook Adrian Morris on the last turn of the game. He then went on to regain the trophy undefeated. Adrian, Bill Sidebottom and Cliff Daniel took one game each.

St George Cup – Played throughout the season as an AC Knockout competition, Bill Sidebottom narrowly beat Cliff Daniel in the final by just two points having pegged out one of Cliff’s balls with Cliff on Rover.

Secunderabad Cup – AC Blocks - Alan Richardson used his bisques well to keep Adrian Morris out of the game for some time but Adrian was in form on the day and took the trophy 26 – 9.

Kenilworth Cup – GC Knockout – A very tight three game final with Charles Wade beating Tim Leggatt in the final, 7-5, 5-7, 7-4.

Pindi Cup – GC Blocks – Another very tight three game final. Philip Wood took the first but Nigel Haslam won the next two games to retain the trophy.

Bill Browne Trophy – AC 14 point Blocks. Cliff Daniel fought well and almost pegged out his opponent but Philip Wood took the game 14 – 6.

Taylor Cup – Half Lawn AC – Played this year as a series of four player tournaments. The Final tournament was taken by Nigel Haslam, undefeated on the day with John Handy runner-up on two wins.

Ladies Trophy - Seven ladies competed for this trophy with Pauline Harvey taking the trophy with five wins and Diane Fitch runner-up with four wins.

Douglas Trophy – AC half lawn competition for high handicappers. This was not competed for this year but we hope to generate more interest next year and will focus on more coaching for high handicappers and beginners earlier in the season.
